Some Indian cricket fans believe that Gautam Gambhir’s lack of friendship with India’s Test skipper Virat Kohli, is the biggest reason why he wasn’t picked in the squad for the upcoming Test series against New Zealand.

With many blaming Virat Kohli’s personal enmity with Gambhir, The Cricket Lounge’s Vaibhav Sharma takes a look at incidents when Gambhir and Kohli clashed on and off the field.

1) IPL 2013: This incident was a shocking one for the fans as Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir always shared a good on-field friendship. Both of them are from Delhi and once Gambhir gave away his man of the match to Kohli, in the match Kohli scored his first ever international hundred. The incident took place when Kohli, who had hit Pradeep Sangwan for two sixes, went for a wild slash but was caught on a ball bowled by Lakshmipathy Balaji.

2) IPL 2016 (Bengaluru): Another occasion when Gambhir lost his cool, was when his side Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore. Gambhir kicked a chair in the dugout when KKR lost the match against RCB. Gambhir was even fined 15% of his match-fees.

3) IPL 2016 Final: The final of the 2016 Indian Premier League between SunRisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore was won by David Warner led-SRH with Kohli’s team ending second best in the tournament. Gautam Gambhir sent out a tweet and many thought that it was an indirect dig at Virat Kohli.

Congratulations @SunRisers on winning @IPL Nice guys DO finish first. Well done. Bowler win u cricket matches be it any format @BCCI
