IPL 2020 is just around the corner and there is a lot of excitement among cricket fans for the world’s most extravagant T20 league. All the teams spent a lot of money and built their respective squads for the upcoming season. Most of the teams are strong and it isn’t easy to pick only one definite winner.

It would a strongly contested IPL once again and it would be great for all the cricket fans. When we talk about the IPL and the shortest format the one thing which comes in mind is the death overs. The final overs of any innings are the most dangerous ones for the fielding side and most of the matches are decided in that period.

Batsmen like ABD, Andre Russell, and Hardik Pandya have all the power in the world so it becomes really difficult to bowl at them. But still, some teams have bowlers who can control these batsmen. Each team has picked some death over specialists who can bowl brilliantly in the end overs. So, let’s have a look at the four-best death over specialists for IPL 2020.

  1. Pat Cummins

The most expensive buy of IPL 2020 is going to be the go-to bowler for Dinesh Karthik in the death overs period for the Kolkata Knight Riders. If you are getting paid 15.5 CR then you have to bowl the tough overs and Cummins is more than capable of doing that.

The Australian quick has a really good pace which can trouble any batsman. He can bowl at the toes or the nose at pace. Along with that, he has some variations up his sleeve. He has a good off-cutter which tricks the batsman.

Over the last couple of years, Cummins hasn’t played much T20 cricket and so it would be a nice test for the No.1 Test bowler but there is no doubt that he is one of the best in the business.

  1. Jofra Archer

The West Indian born; English bowler came into the limelight for his death bowling in the shortest format. He was first seen in the BBL where he was bowling those quick Yorkers which made stumps fly.

Jofra Archer is the designated death bowler for the Rajasthan Royals. His death bowing was on show during the super over in the Final Over of the World Cup. He bowled some brilliant Yorkers which helped England win the World Cup for the first time.

The 24-year-old pacer is bowling at the death in the IPL over the last two years and he will be doing it in the upcoming season of the IPL as well.

  1. Kagiso Rabada

If you want to sum up Kagiso Rabada’s death bowling in one over then you have to watch the super over which be bowled in the previous IPL against the likes of Andre Russell and Dinesh Karthik.

Defending 11 in the super over, Russell hit the first ball for a four but Rabada then nailed all his Yorkers in the spot and as a result, Delhi Capitals ended up on the winning side. He was brilliant in the last season for the Delhi Capitals.

In IPL 2019, Rabada picked up 25 wickets in 12 games with most of them coming at the death. The Delhi Capitals fans will be hoping that he repeats the feat once again as he is the best death bowler in their team.

  1. Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah is not only the best bowler in the shortest format but he is also the best death bowler at the moment. The batsmen have reached a point where they just look to play out Bumrah’s overs. It is extremely difficult to hit Bumrah out of the park. First of all, he is deceptive. His run-up would suggest that he bowls medium pace but when you face him you are beaten for pace. Secondly, he has a pinpoint Yorker which he very rarely misses.

Along with all this, he has a couple of more variations. He bowls the off-cutter which deceives the batsman completely. He also has a really good bouncer in his armory. If you can execute all this in one game then you are ought to be the best death bowler.
