The selection of the national cricket team is very difficult in India. As a result many talented and deserving players are left out from getting selected. There have been many cricketers who were born in India and went on to play for other cricket teams, similarly, there were many cricketers who represented team India but were not born in India.

Here, we bring you a list of 5 cricketers who represented team India but were not born in India. Have a look:




5. Ashok Gandotra:

Indian batsman Ashok Gandotra played only 2 tests for team India in the year 1969, during which he scored 54 runs. Besides this, he has played 54 first-class matches for Bengal and for Delhi during the 1974/75 season. Ashok was born in Brazil and not in India.




4. Lal Singh:

The right-handed batsman of India, Lal Singh played only one Test match against England in 1932, where he scored 44 runs. However, after this match, Lal Singh never got the opportunity again to represent Team India. Lal Singh was born in Malaysia.

3. Khokhan Sen:

Former wicketkeeper-batsman Khokhan Sen, who is well known as Probir Kumar Sen represented team India in 14 Tests for India between 1948 and 1952, where he scored only 165 runs. But very few cricket fans know that he was born not in India but in Bangladesh.

2. Salim Durani:

Former Indian all-rounder Salim Durani played 29 Tests for India between 1960 and 1973. During his playing days, he scored 1202 runs and a century. Besides this, he also took 75 wickets. Salim was born on 11 December 1934 in Kabul, Afghanistan.

1. Robin Singh:

Robin Singh featured in 136 ODI matches, however, his debut test match turned out to be his last one. Robin Singh was born in the Princes Town in the city of Trinidad and Tobago.
