Commentary has been an important feature of cricket ever since cricket has started to be broadcasted. Commentary jobs have given a second innings to a countless number of former cricketers and we have always been excited to see our favourite commentators hold the mic.

Here is a list of 5 cricketers who failed at cricket but became successful commentators.
1.Akash Chopra

Akash Chopra is one of the most popular cricket commentators and he is always full of energy and zeal. Akash Chopra is a very good reader of the game and he can do commentary both, in Hindi and English with identical efficiency. Not many have such a good command over the two languages.

But Akash Chopra is someone who failed miserably in his cricketing career. Akash Chopra played 10 test matches for India in which he could only manage 437 runs at an average of 23. But he was fortunate to make a career in commentary.

2. Sanjay Manjrekar

5 Failed Indian Cricketers Who Became Successful Commentators

Sanjay Manjrekar is one of the best commentators in the nation when it comes to being an English commentator. He is one of the most popular commentators in not just India but globally.

Sanjay Manrekar has represented India in 74 One Day Internationals and 37 Test Matches. Sanjay Manjrekar could not really make a mark in his cricketing career. He could only manage 2043 runs in 37 test matches while in 74 One Day Internationals he could only manage 1994 runs at a dismal average.

3. Deep Das Gupta

Deep Das Gupta many would not know, has represented India in 8 tests and 5 One Day Internationals as a wicket-keeper batsman. Deep could only manage 344 runs in 8 tests and just 51 runs in 5 One Day Internationals.

But Deep has made a good career in cricket commentary and is a popular guy in the commentary fraternity.

4. Murali Karthik

Murali Karthik has also earned himself a good fame in the commentary circle. He too has a good command over both the languages, Hindi and English. Murali Karthik is a successful commentator but he failed as a cricketer at the international level.

Karthik has played 8 test matches and 37 test matches for India and his international cricket career has been very short lived. The spinner could only manage 37 wickets in 37 One Day matches.

5. RP Singh

The Indian pacer has also found his way to the commentary fraternity after the Hindi commentary became popular. RP Singh is taking big leaps in this second innings of his life.

But as a pacer representing India, he did not have a career as long and successful as he would have wanted to. RP Singh could only bag 69 wickets in 58 One Day Internationals. In 14 tests he could only scalp 40 wickets.
