Indeed, legends like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin have shaped the narrative. However, a new generation, brimming with exceptional prowess, is emerging. Youngsters like Tilak Varma, Shubman Gill, and Yashasvi Jaiswal are setting new benchmarks. Here, we spotlight five prodigious talents under 25 years who are India’s future cricketing icons.

India’s Brightest Cricketing Stars: Top 5 Under 25 Talents:

1. Tilak Varma (20 years old)

Tilak Varma turned heads during IPL 2023. In his nascent India career, he’s shown immense promise. In four T20Is, he’s garnered 146 runs, averaging 73 with a strike rate of 139.04. Across 51 T20 matches, he boasts a batting average of 42 and a strike rate of 142.18. In List A cricket, Varma averages 56.18, amassing 1236 runs in 25 outings. Though early in his first-class journey, he’s played nine matches with an average of 37.35.

2. Yashasvi Jaiswal (21 years old)

Like Varma, IPL 2023 was pivotal for Yashasvi Jaiswal. He ranked fifth, netting 625 runs at an average of 48 and a strike rate of 163.61. Internationally, he’s represented India in T20Is and Tests, astonishingly averaging over 80 in both. Of his five international innings, Jaiswal has hit one century and two fifties, notably against the West Indies.

3. Prithvi Shaw (23 years old)

Debuting at 18, Prithvi Shaw’s introduction to international cricket was meteoric. A century on his Test debut in 2018 made him the seventh-youngest centurion. His List A stats are striking: 2931 runs in 56 matches, averaging 55.30 and striking at 125.47. A recent blitz of 244 runs off 159 balls in England’s One-Day Cup further enhanced his reputation.

4. Shubman Gill (23 years old)**

With over 50 caps for India, Shubman Gill’s records span all formats. Particularly in ODIs, his achievements are noteworthy. He reached 1000 ODI runs in just 19 innings. Boasting the second-best ODI average (62.47), he also became the youngest to score a double ton in January 2023. In Tests and T20Is, Gill averages 32. Yet, his T20I stats shine brighter with a 148.98 strike rate and a century.

5. Washington Sundar (23 years old)

Another prodigy who debuted at 18, Washington Sundar is a versatile all-rounder. His Test batting average stands at an impressive 66.25 over four matches, including three fifties. T20 cricket, however, is where Sundar truly excels. With 29 wickets in the format and a batting strike rate of 152.85 across 25 games, he’s indispensable. While he’s yet to cement his ODI status, he’s seen as the potential successor to Ravichandran Ashwin in Tests.
