5 Popular Indian Players And Their First Salary In IPL: The first pay-cheque or first salary is always a memorable one for any individual and the same goes for cricketers as well. While the cricket board keeps them on payrolls, however, the money that cricketers earn from IPL is unmatchable.

Today, in this article, we bring you some of the top players of the IPL and the first salaries they received.

1. Virat Kohli – INR 12 lakhs (IPL 2008):




The current Indian and Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli is one of the highest-paid cricketers in the league. He has been a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore since its inception and has been the team’s captain since 2013. Virat has been retained by RCB for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League for a whopping INR 17 crores.

However, his salary was a whopping 100 times less back in 2008. Virat was uncapped back when he was roped in by Royal Challengers Bangalore for INR 12 lakhs.

2. Rohit Sharma – INR 3 Crores (IPL 2008):

Rohit Sharma is one of the most successful skippers in the IPL history, having won the trophy of IPL 5 times for his team Mumbai Indians. He was first bought by the Deccan Charges during IPL 2008 for INR 3 crores, which was also an immense amount then.

3. Jasprit Bumrah – INR 10 lakhs (IPL 2013):

Over the years, Jasprit Bumrah has become the backbone of the Indian bowling attack across formats. Jasprit was one of the great finds of Mumbai Indians all thanks to his brilliant performance in domestic cricket. He was bought for a small amount of INR 10 lakhs then.

Over the years, Bumrah has surprised many with his concrete bowling skills and has proved that he is more than his unorthodox bowling action.

4. Hardik Pandya – INR 10 lakhs (IPL 2015):

Hardik Pandya also belonged to the same catchment area of Gujarat just like Jasprit Bumrah. The sensational bowling all-rounder is a rare talent in the Indian cricket team and Mumbai spent INR 10 lakhs to buy him.

From his big-hitting to some of his stunning bowling performances, Hardik impressed one and all with his all-round performances. Season after season, Pandya replicated his shows and soon he made space for himself in the Indian cricket team as well.

5. KL Rahul – INR 10 lakhs (IPL 2013):

When he arrived, KL Rahul was never seen as a limited-overs cricketer, however, with his technique and stunning performances, KL Rahul made space for himself not just in IPL but also in the Indian cricket team. He was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for INR 10 Lakhs.
