2. Chennai Super Kings:

CSK is one of the most popular and successful franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL), having won the tournament 4 times.  The Chennai-based franchise is owned by  India Cements, a leading cement manufacturing company in India, since its inception in 2008. The franchise has a valuation of $1.15 billion, which makes them one of the richest franchises in the league.

Notably, with a stated value of $1.02 billion (Rs 7,600 crore), CSK became India’s first sports unicorn in February 2022. When a start-up business or endeavor has a value of $1 billion or more, it is called a “unicorn”.

3. Kolkata Knight Riders:

The two-time IPL winners, KKR is owned by Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, actress Juhi Chawla, and her spouse Jay Mehta. KKR’s valuation has been steadily increasing with the increasing popularity of the Indian Premier League. KKR’s valuation is reported to be over $1.1 billion.

4. Lucknow Super Giants:

LSG, who made their debut last year in the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League, have an impressive ranking in the team valuation standings. The franchise is owned by the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, which is a prominent business conglomerate in India. Despite its short existence in the league, LSG has a valuation of $1.075 billion.

5. Delhi Capitals:

DC is owned by the GMR Group, which is a global infrastructure company with interests in airports, energy, highways, and urban infrastructure. As of September 2021, the Delhi-based franchise is estimated to be worth $1.035 billion.
