1. “Pura din kharab kar diya yaar”
That translates into the whole day getting wasted. It is as if somebody forced us to watch the whole game tied on to our chairs. Passion comes first, complaints later.
2. “Abe Kya Shot Maara Hai Yaar?”
That translates into “Why did he play that shot,man?” Every Indian cricket lover is a technician. They know everything about the textbook. Even if he scores a century and India ends up losing the game, the poor centurion still gets blamed for that six that just landed inside the boundary into the fielders hands. Often we Indians forget that he played quite a few of then earlier which went all the way.
3. “India bowling first? Kya yaar! Chal cricket khelte hain”
We love batting. Maybe this is the reason we have produced more batsmen than bowlers. Accept that you had said this sometime or earlier. We are a batting powerhouse and we always want to bat first. Be it the gully cricket match or the world cup finals, fielding first is always a turn off. Win the toss, bat first!
4. “Abey fielding kar lo yaar! Sab aalsi hain”
That translates into “all our fielders are lazy”. Remember those days when a fielder would raise his hand in the inner circle to let the fielder stationed on the boundary know that the ball is coming to him?
5. “Bhai, saare selectors mile hue hain”
That translates into “all the selectors are corrupt”. Every conversation is a national selectors meeting after a loss. Most views are centered around who should not play the next match or for India again. We are all cricket experts you see.
