5 Times MS Dhoni Trolled Ravindra Jadeja: It is truly an end of an era as Dhoni stepped down from his post as the Chennai Super Kings captain on Thursday, just two days prior to the IPL 2022 season opener against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Premier all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who has been with the franchise since 2012 and has been in his career-best form in the past couple of years, has been named as the new CSK skipper. In fact, it was Dhoni himself who made both the calls, the franchise said in their statement.
“MS Dhoni has decided to hand over the leadership of Chennai Super Kings and picked Ravindra Jadeja to lead the team. Jadeja, who has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2012, will only be the third player to lead CSK. Dhoni will continue to represent Chennai Super Kings this season and beyond,” read a statement from CSK.
While eulogies and tributes started flowing in from all corners for the departing four-time IPL winning skipper, fans also congratulated Jadeja for his new role.
Meanwhile, netizens also dug out some old hilarious tweets of Dhoni, as back as the year 2013 when the Dhoni-Jadeja partnership was blossoming both in CSK’s yellow and India’s blue colours. In a series of tweets, Dhoni made some really funny jokes about ‘Sir’ Jadeja. The southpaw got this nickname of ‘Sir’ then and was made famous by Dhoni himself.
“God realised RAJNI sir is getting old so he created sir ravindra jadeja,” Dhoni tweeted and had the fans chuckling.
He continued to pull Jadeja’s leg: “Sir jadeja was upset abt only 1 t20 match in a bilateral series so BCCI came up with the idea of IPL.so all the fans of ipl plz thank SRJ,” the former skipper tweeted.

Dhoni captained CSK and Rising Pune Supergiants in a combined record of 204 IPL games, winning 121 of those; he marched CSK to four IPL titles and 2 Champions League trophies, and a total of 11 playoff berths, and 9 finals, out of the 12 seasons they participated in.
This is Ravindra Jadeja‘s first experience as a captain in the IPL. And he is ready to fill the big boots of his predecessor.
Speaking to the Super Kings’ social media team, Jadeja said, “Feeling good. At the same time, I also need to fill in big boots like Mahi bhai, [he] has already set the big legacy so I need to carry [that] forward. I don’t need to worry too much because he is here so whatever I have a question to ask, I’ll definitely go to him. He’ll be my go-to person. He was and still he is today, so I’m not worried too much.”
