30th May turned out to be a memorable day for the Chennai Super Kings‘ fans as MS Dhoni led the team to a historic fifth title win by defeating Gujarat Titans in the summit clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
After the match, Harsha Bhogle, who is one of the world’s favorite voices, delighted the fans when he asked Dhoni about his retirement plans. Only he could have done that, so wonderfully. It was nothing more than a broadcaster’s dream. Harsha received numerous messages after that and even took to Twitter to thank his fans.
“ What Dhoni achieved goes way beyond numbers he produced. He told young Indians in small towns that they could conquer the world. To them he was the beacon, he was the dream that maybe they could achieve too.” – Harsha.

1. When Harsha Bhogle asked MS Dhoni about his legacy:
After the IPL 2023 final, Bhogle asked the most-discussed question of the season. When Harsha asked Dhoni about his legacy, he replied:
“This is the best time for me to announce my retirement…but the tough thing for me is to work hard for another 9 months and come back and play at least one more season of the Indian Premier League”
He added:
“It’s not easy for me but it will a gift from my side. The way they have shown love and affection that’s something I think I need to do for them (sic),”
2. When Harsha revealed some shocking details about Dhoni:
In an interview, Harsha revealed that he has met Dhoni only once (socially) as one can’t get in touch with him. He revealed:
“Dhoni is just from another planet. Dhoni’s room is never locked. His door is always open. Anybody in the team can walk into his room. Anytime room service will be ordered, there will be something there. The room is never locked.”
He added: “But, you can never call him on the phone. I have met Dhoni only once socially. In all this years, I have met him only once. Because you cannot get in touch with him. He doesn’t carry a mobile phone. He’s got a mobile phone that only a very very closest people know the number,”
3. When Harsha tried to get the success recipe of CSK from Dhoni:
After IPL 2019 game between CSK and SRH, Harsha asked Dhoni about his team’s consistency in every season. He asked: “What it is about CSK? What do you talk about? You just believe in yourself? How do you manage to make it to the playoffs every year?”
Responding to this: “If I tell everyone what it is, they will not buy me in the auction”
4. When Bhogle asked Thala about the reason behind players taking his signed jerseys:
After every game, it is a very common sight for the fans to see youngsters coming to get their jerseys signed. When Dhoni was asked about the same, he said:
“Maybe they thought I am retiring. I have retired from international cricket maybe I will retire from the shortest format also.”
5. When Dhoni called himself ‘old’ over taking a stunning catch after CSK’s win against SRH:
In another fun interaction with Bhogle, Dhoni referred to himself as ‘old’ after a recent help IPL match between CSK and SRH. During the game, he took a stunning catch but didn’t get the best catch award.
“They didn’t give me best catch award. Just because we wear gloves, people think it’s easy. I felt it was a fantastic catch. Once you get old, that’s the only time you get experience.”
He added: “Definitely old! You can’t really shy away from that.”
