Sunil Narine continued his impressive batting form as he provided Kolkata Knight Riders with a blazing start in the match against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024, held in Vishakhapatnam on Wednesday (April 3).

KKR captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bat first. Khaleel Ahmed bowled tightly, giving away only three runs in extras as neither Sunil Narine nor Phil Salt managed to score any runs in the first over. However, Phil Salt found his rhythm in the second over, hitting Ishant Sharma for two boundaries.

Sunil Narine Lights Up Vizag As He Rips Apart Ishant Sharma With Stunning Shots

In the third over, Sunil Narine struck his first boundary of the match, followed by more fours from Salt in the same over. Narine found his rhythm in the fourth over when Ishant Sharma returned to bowl his second over. Despite bowling a couple of dot balls in his previous over, Ishant Sharma struggled to contain Narine this time.

But Sunil Narine had different intentions. He went after Ishant Sharma, smashing him for 26 runs in the over. Narine started with a six over mid-off off the first ball. Despite a short delivery from Ishant Sharma, Narine pulled it for another six. He followed it up with a boundary on the third ball before Ishant Sharma finally bowled a dot ball. However, Narine concluded the over with another six and a four.

Anrich Nortje provided Delhi Capitals with a crucial breakthrough by dismissing Salt for 18 runs in the fifth over. However, Sunil Narine remained relentless, continuing his aggressive batting. He hammered a six and three boundaries in the final over of the powerplay, reaching his fifty off just 21 balls. As of now, KKR stands at 105/1 in the 8th over.
