Struggling Mumbai Indians have been boosted by the return of their key batsman, Suryakumar Yadav, in the current Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) season.
The five-time IPL champions, Mumbai Indians, are in dire need of their star batsman following a dismal start to their campaign. Led by new captain Hardik Pandya, they have suffered losses in their first three games and currently occupy the bottom spot on the points table.

Mumbai Indians’ batting has also been underwhelming, failing to chase down 169 against Gujarat Titans despite a promising position of 129 for 3. They ultimately lost the match by six runs.
In their second match, Mumbai Indians struggled to contain Sunrisers Hyderabad, conceding a hefty total of 277/3 and eventually losing by 31 runs. In their third outing, Mumbai Indians’ batting faltered, posting a modest 125/9 against Rajasthan Royals at home, resulting in a six-wicket defeat.
Mumbai Indians are eagerly anticipating the return of Suryakumar Yadav, as reports suggest that the right-handed batsman has been cleared by the BCCI medical team to participate in IPL 2024.
Suryakumar Yadav has been sidelined from competitive cricket since December last year due to an ankle injury and a sports hernia issue. Despite undergoing two surgeries, he has not yet returned to action. Although he underwent a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) just before the beginning of IPL 2024 last month, he did not receive clearance to play.
“He is fit now. The NCA made him play a few practice games and he looked good. He can join the Mumbai Indians team.
“We wanted to be sure that when Surya goes back to MI, he is 100 percent fit and ready to play games. He wasn’t feeling 100% during his first fitness Test before the IPL, so we waited to see if there was any pain while he was batting,” a source in the BCCI told the Indian Express.
The report further mentioned that Suryakumar Yadav is expected to make his comeback in Mumbai Indians’ upcoming match against Delhi Capitals on Sunday (April 7).
