7 Aussies Who Can Earn Crores In The IPL 2024 Auction

The list of players who have registered for the IPL 2024 Auction is out. And as expected it includes dozens of Australian players, capped and uncapped, experienced and inexperienced; some of them were part of the recent World Cup 2023 winning squad.

A total of 1,166 players have registered themselves. This list will be trimmed to around 300-400 players who will go under the hammer on December 19 in the IPL 2024 auction.

Mitchell Starc and Travis Head are expected to bag at least a million dollars, which would be around 7-8 crore, in the IPL 2024 auction. In fact, both Starc and Head could go for even more than INR 12 crore in the auction.

While Starc comes with a great reputation, Travis Head enhanced his reputation this year. He delivered Man of the Match performances in the WTC Final against India, the World Cup 2023 semi-final against South Africa and the final against India. Starc last featured in the IPL in 2015 and Head in 2017.

Further, fast bowlers Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, too, are expected to have a hefty day in the auction. However, franchises might be a bit reluctant to bid for Hazlewood because he is likely to miss the first month of the IPL as he is expecting his baby during that time.

But Hazlewood, an IPL winner with CSK and a T20 World Cup 2021 winner with Australia, brings great value with himself and could make significantly positive impact in the second half of the tournament. T20 remains Cummins’ least strongest format, but he adds value with the bat, too, and is an improved death bowler, as shown in the recent World Cup.

Steve Smith opted out of last IPL season but he’s back in the mix now. Smith brings huge amount of experience of Indian conditions with himself. He smashed twin centuries as an opener in the last BBL and could be a wild card opening pick in the IPL.

Josh Inglis recently smashed the joint-fastest T20I century by an Australian batsman, and Sean Abbott is a serial wicket-taker in BBL history. Both of them could be expected to be bought for around 3-4 crore in the IPL 2024 auction.
