The DC regular skipper and wicketkeeper-batter is currently recovering from injuries sustained in a car accident last year in December. Pant could be seen arriving at the venue in a car and then slowly walking towards the stand with the help of crutches.
The fans present at the ground went berserk as Pant arrived at the stadium and waved towards them.
A DDCA official told The Indian Express, “He will sit with the team owners box. We have arranged a golf cart, and made a makeshift ramp for him as he will be on the wheelchairs. We are excited to welcome our boy back. It will be good for the fans to get a glimpse of Pant and it will boost the team’s confidence as well,”
In Pant’s absence in the ongoing season, Australia’s star batter David Warner has been leading the side as the captain, while they are still struggling for a wicket-keeper replacement.
While in the first game, Sarfaraz Khan was given a chance with the gloves, on the other hand, Abhishek Porel was handed a debut in the second match.
