[VIDEO] Afghanistan Players Danced On Lungi Dance To Tease Pakistanis

The Hashmatullah Shahidi-led Afghanistan team created history as they recorded their first-ever ODI match win over Pakistan, ending a streak of 7 consecutive losses.

This loss came at the worst possible time for Pakistan. After two wins, they had lost two matches to India and Australia. Pakistan needed a victory to boost themselves, and instead, they got floored by Afghanistan and now they have 3 losses in 5 matches. This means that Pakistan can;t afford another slip up; they now need to win all their 4 remaining matches to keep their hopes of reaching the semi-final alive in World Cup 2023.

For Afghanistan, this is a win of great joyous occasion. Not only this is their first-ever ODI match win over Pakistan, this is the only third win in ODI World Cup history. They had earlier defeated England in Delhi. They didn’t win a single game in the 2019 WC and won only one match – against Scotland – in the 2015 World Cup. Mohammad Nabi, who’s been part of all three wins, said this win over Pakistan is their best win.

Afghanistan celebrated this epic and famous win with great entertainment. They did a lap of honor in the Chepauk ground; the Chennai crowd gave them a standing ovation.

Then, in their team bus, going from the stadium to their hotel, the Afghanistan players immersed in more celebration by dancing to Shah Rukh Khan’s song Lungi Dance. Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad and rest Afghanistan players could be seen enjoying themselves fully to the beats of the Lungi Dance song.

This is the favourite win of Afghanistan: Mohammad Nabi

Veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi said that this victory for Afghanistan is their “favourite” ODI win, one which they will cherish throughout their history. Nabi reckoned having lost to Pakistan 7 times, with a couple of games by very close margin, this win is great for their country.

“It’s a big moment for the whole team, but also whole Afghanistan as well,” Nabi said. “We have been waiting for the last 10-12 years. We have played around eight games against Pakistan, and we won one game in a big event.

“It’s a big achievement for the guys. From the last three months, we’ve been working very hard. We played a series against Pakistan, then Asia Cup, and then come here to the World Cup. It’s a lovely moment today. We beat England as well, and now Pakistan. The team is confident now. And the team knows if we score around 280-290 on this kind of surface, it’s defendable and chaseable as well. I think this is the favourite win, against Pakistan.”
