Saket Gokhale Asked ICC To Suspend BCCI And Got Trolled Badly

Following the suspension of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) board by the International Cricket Council (ICC), Saket Gokhale urged the ICC to also suspend the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Last week, the ICC suspended the SLC owing to “extensive government interference in the board’s administration” and to “ensure that there is no government interference in the governance, regulation and/or administration of cricket in Sri Lanka”.

The Sri Lankan government was reported to put former captain Arjuna Ranatunga, a man favored by their government but one who isn’t liked among the ICC members, at the helm of the SLC after their debacle in the World Cup. Even before the World Cup could end, the ICC slashed down on SLC to suspend the board to prevent an apparent, potential government takeover of the board.

Then, Saket Gokhale, who is an Indian RTI activist and politician, current spokesperson of Trinamool Congress, tweeted asking the ICC to sack BCCI because of the involvement of Jay Shah, the BCCI Secretary who is the son of Amit Shah, the Minister of Home Affairs.

Saket Gokhale, who is a member of the Rajya Sabha from West Bengal, alleged that Jay Shah, who is also the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) got his job in the BCCI owing to being the son of Amit Shah, who is a key member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the ruling government in India.

Gokhale tweeted; “Dear @ICC India’s cricket board is headed by a man who got that job simply because he’s the son of the Home Minister of India. Pretty posh of you to do this but then ICC = BCCI basically.

Saket Gokhale got trolled by fans and called out for his hypocrisy of not questioning Sharad Pawar and Rajiv Shukla’s positions in the BCCI but only going after Jay Shah.
