‘Have To Admit…’ Kohli’s Childhood Coach Gave A Bold Verdict On Rahul Dravid’s Tenure As Head Coach

Rajkumar Sharma, Virat Kohli’s former childhood coach, gave a bold verdict on Rahul Dravid’s sting as the Indian head coach. As per multiple reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is mulling roping in a separate head coach for the shortest format of the game, which means Rahul Dravid might not remain as the head coach of the Indian T20 team.

The Indian cricket team, under Rahul Dravid’s tenure, has failed to reach the final of the Asia Cup, and then faltered in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup in Australia, losing to England by 10 wickets. Ever since India’s debacle in the T20 World Cup 2022, change in the T20 coaching setup has become one of the most discussed topics.

Amid all these reports, Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma shared his opinion on Rahul Dravid’s tenure as the head coach of the Indian cricket team. Sharma stated that Rahul Dravid has failed to produce positive results so far in his tenure.

Sharma pointed out how several experiments of Rahul Dravid have not paid off lately as the Indian side has faced defeats in a number of important series, including the T20 World Cup 2022 and Asia Cup 2022. However, he also claimed that the coach shouldn’t be the only one to be blamed for the side’s poor performances. He said:

“I would not say that Rahul Dravid has failed as the team’s head coach. However, some of the experiments and the thinking haven’t been very successful.”

He added: “Unfortunately, for Dravid, a lot of his tactics haven’t reaped dividends. While it is wrong to blame the coach, we have to admit that his stint hasn’t been a very successful one, considering the unfavorable results,”

Earlier, former India cricketer Saba Karim also highlighted that India needs to restructure their approach as the Men in Blue haven’t won any ICC tournament in nine long years. He said:

“We have not won an ICC trophy since 2013. We have to accept that we have gone downhill in white-ball cricket. We will have to work very hard to change that. Restructuring is the need of the hour,”
