Kapil Dev's "Don't Play IPL" Video Resurfaced After Ishan Kishan Opts Out Of SA Test Series

25-year-old Ishan Kishan has opted out of the upcoming 2-Test series in South Africa. Ishan Kishan, who made his Test debut in July in the West Indies, pulled out from the Test series in South Africa citing “personal reasons”.

After that, a report in the Indian Express said that the left-handed wicket-keeper batsman opted out from the Test series due to mental fatigue. Kishan has been with the national team since the West Indies tour after the IPL 2023. While most of the other players, including Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj, have had rest from one or two series, Ishan Kishan has constantly been part of the Indian teams across formats this year.

“He informed the team management that he is having mental fatigue and wants a break from cricket for some time. Everyone agreed to it,” the report in the Indian Express said.

Kapil Dev’s “don’t play IPL” video goes viral after Ishan Kishan pulls out of South Africa Test series

After Ishan Kishan pulled out, a previous video of former India captain Kapil Dev resurfaced on social media. In this video, Kapil Dev is slamming Indian players who take rest and breaks from international bilaterals while continuing to be available for the IPL.

“If you think there is burnout then don’t play IPL. I mean that’s not representing your country. If you think you are burned out then you can obviously take a break during the IPL,” Kapil Dev Had said.

“IPL gives you exposure. And I don’t want to see anybody’s pocket (suffer), what they are making and all. I think when you represent your country, it should be a different feeling. It can’t be that you have more feeling for club cricket and not for the country,” Kapil added.

KS Bharat has been named as Kishan’s replacement in the Test squad with KL Rahul very likely to start in Centurion as the keeper.
