Watch: Virat Kohli Cheekily Reminds Dean Elgar Of His LBW From 2021

The cricketing world is abuzz with anticipation as India and South Africa lock horns in the second test match at Cape Town. After a disappointing innings and 32 runs defeat in Centurion, India is determined to turn the tide and level the series. The stakes are high, and cricket enthusiasts are glued to their screens, witnessing a captivating battle between two formidable teams.

In the first test, Indian batters, except for the stellar performances by KL Rahul and Virat Kohli, faced a formidable challenge on a spicy wicket. The defeat underscored the need for a revamped strategy, prompting crucial changes in the lineup for the second test.

India has strategically made two changes for the crucial encounter. Mukesh Kumar replaces Shardul Thakur, bringing in fresh pace and energy. Additionally, Ravindra Jadeja steps in for Ravichandran Ashwin, adding a spin dimension to the team’s arsenal. The management’s decisions indicate a proactive approach to address the shortcomings from the previous match.

In his final test, SA captain Dean Elgar won the toss and elected to bat first. This decision set the stage for a battle of wits between Indian pacers and the South African batting lineup. The first innings saw a spectacular display of bowling performance from the Indian pacers, as they dismantled the South African batting order for a mere 55 runs. Mohammed Siraj emerged as the star performer, claiming six wickets and leaving the Proteas reeling.

Facing a challenging batting wicket, India responded with determination. At the time of writing, India stands at 111/4, with Virat Kohli holding the fort at 20 not out and KL Rahul partnering him. The duo’s resilience becomes crucial in the quest for levelling the series. As the game progressed, a dramatic incident unfolded at the stroke of tea. Marco Jansen’s delivery to Kohli resulted in a loud LBW appeal. The on-field umpire, Raza, ruled it not out, but Elgar opted for a review. Ball-tracking indicated a marginal impact, keeping the decision with umpire’s call.

In a lighthearted moment, Kohli seized the opportunity to remind Elgar of a similar incident in 2021. Referring to the infamous Capetown Test, Kohli quipped, “Should have been as high as Ash to you.” The reference harked back to the frustration expressed by Kohli and his team over an overturned LBW decision that favored Elgar in 2021.

In the 2021 Capetown Test, tensions ran high as Kohli and his teammates confronted a contentious LBW decision. Elgar was given out on the pitch, only for ball tracking to reveal that the ball had marginally cleared the stumps. Fast forward to the present, Kohli playfully invoked the past.
