IND vs AFG: Shubman Gill Got Abused By Rohit Sharma Fans After Latter Got Run-Out In 1st T20I

It was a forgettable return to the T20I format for India skipper Rohit Sharma as he got out – RUN OUT – for a duck in the first T20I against Afghanistan.

Rohit Sharma has a significant history of being involved in mix-ups ending up in either his run-out or his partner’s. This one was the latest in the list. Rohit was fuming at Shubman Gill after he got run-out in Mohali.

This was Rohit’s comeback game to India’s T20I colors after over a gap of 13 months. With only three T20Is for India left to play before the T20 World Cup, Rohit would have been desperate to show that he still remains a lethal batter in the shortest format as India builds up for the T20 World Cup.

However, the first of three chances went up in smoke for Rohit Sharma as was out for a two-ball duck in Mohali.

Rohit wanted to assert his aggressive approach, so he danced down the track to neatly drive a full ball from Fazalhaq Farooqi. Rohit connected well, and set off for a quick single. However, the fielding effort from Ibrahim Zadran at mid-off was spectacular. Ibrahim Zadran threw himself on the ground in a superb dive and stopped the ball from racing away to the boundary.

Upon hearing screams of his players, Ibrahim Zadran picked up the ball and calmly threw it at the striker’s end which didn’t have either Rohit or Gill. Replays revealed that Rohit had ran more than half of the pitch after playing his stroke while Gill was only ball-watching. By the time Zadran threw the ball to the keeper, both Rohit and Gill were at the non-striker’s end. As Gill had got back in his crease before Rohit did, the India skipper was out.

Fans of Rohit were furious with Gill and let out their frustration and anger in his Insta comments section and on Twitter.

Angry Rohit Sharma fans abused and trolled Shubman Gill:
