Ishan Kishan finds himself in the firing line of the BCCI bosses as reports suggest the board may consider releasing him from their central contract list.
Ishan Kishan’s absence from Ranji Trophy 2024 has created a huge stir among the fans and apparently in the BCCI and the Jharkhand Cricket Association as well. The left-handed wicket-keeper batsman has skipped all he Ranji Trophy games this season and instead was found training and practicing with the Pandya brothers, Hardik and Krunal, in Baroda at the Kiran More Academy.
Kishan last played any form of cricket on November 28. He then pulled out from the South Africa Test series after being named in it, citing personal reasons, and since has not made himself available for selection.
Now, the BCCI is allegedly pondering over releasing him from their central contract to make a strong statement of their own. Ishan Kishan is in the Grade C category.
While the INR 1 crore contract with the BCCI isn’t something an India and IPL cricketer would fret over, no less someone who racked in INR 15.25 crore from the Mumbai Indians in the IPL, it is the ignominy of being potentially dropped from the contracted players that would hurt the player.
Here is how the fans reacted to the report of Ishan Kishan potentially being released from BCCI central contract:

Earlier this week, Times of India stated that the board has decided to issue a notice to the domestic players to make themselves available for all Ranji Trophy matches unless they are injured, in which case they would require the NCA confirmation.
“In the next few days, all the players will be communicated by the BCCI to play for their state team in the Ranji Trophy, as long as they are not on national duty, with only those who are unfit and recovering at the NCA being granted an exemption. The Board isn’t too happy with certain players already in IPL mode from January,” a BCCI source told TOI.
It feels that Ishan Kishan will straightaway return in the IPL 2024 next month as there is only one Ranji match for Jharkhand left this month and he has not been named in the squad.
