[Watch] Rohit Sharma Throws His Cap In Anger After Sarfaraz Khan Got Run Out Due To Ravindra Jadeja

On debut, Sarfaraz Khan didn’t show any nerves and raced away to 62 runs in 66 balls on Day 1 in Rajkot against England. But his innings – what seemed like a potential century – was cut short because of a run-out – a direct hit from Mark Wood – and fans blamed Ravindra Jadeja for that.

Jadeja was clearly under the influence of playing for his milestone of a century while Sarfaraz Khan, batting at number 6, attacked spectacularly with 9 fours and a six. Jadeja took ages to move from 90 to 99 and was stuck in the nervous 90s.

On 99, he tapped a ball from James Anderson toward mid-on and called for a quick single, taking a couple of steps out of his crease.

Responding to Jadeja’s signal, Sarfaraz Khan, without watching much of the ball or the fielder, trusted Jadeja’s call and started running. However, Jadeja withdrew his call and gestured to send Sarfaraz back. But it was too late by then as Mark Wood had made a direct hit, catching Sarfaraz a couple of meters away from the stumps.

Sarfaraz Khan and Ravindra Jadeja looked at each other before the former started to walk off to applause and a standing ovation from the crowd, which included his father and wife.

In the dressing room, though, India captain Rohit Sharma wasn’t holding himself back. In anger at Jadeja running Sarfaraz out, Rohit Sharma threw his cap fiercely and looked furious.

Ravindra Jadeja brought up his 4th Test century and also reached 3000 Test runs. Earlier Rohit Sharma, too, raised a brilliant century. The talk of the town, though, today will be Sarfaraz’s blistering innings and his run out, and deservedly so.

India are 326/5 at stumps on Day 1 in Rajkot.
