Star India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja continues on his superb patch in home conditions as he notched up another half-century – 13th in India – and a very important one as he and Rohit Sharma bailed India out of early trouble to balance the game in Rajkot.
Ravindra Jadeja, who had missed the second Test against England in Vizag, made his return for the third Test in his home city, Rajkot. He got a raucous reception from the crowd when he walked in to bat, but with India struggling early on at 33/3.
The left-hander partnered with captain Rohit Sharma and both took the team to Lunch unscathed any further. After Lunch, the pair continued to bat smartly, while Ravindra Jadeja had some luck with tentative pushes outside the off-stump and was beaten on his inside-edge a couple of times. But the southpaw rode on his luck and raised a brilliant half-century in 97 balls. He hit five fours so far in his knock.
After reaching his half-century, with the crowd already up on their feet awaiting the famous sword celebration, Ravindra Jadeja duly brought out his trademark celebration. Jadeja twirled his bat with his left hand and the Rajkot crowd erupted in delight and applauded the efforts of the hometown boy.

Jadeja averages 41 in Test cricket in India with the bat and 21 with the ball at home. He is effectively a two-in-one player when playing at home. In the absence of Kohli, KL Rahul, and Axar Patel, Jadeja and Rohit Sharma have stepped up with the bat today after Mark Wood and Tom Hartley dealt India early blows with the wickets of Jaiswal, Gill, and Patidar.
