[Video] Rahul Dravid Smiles After Yashasvi Jaiswal Strikes Two Reverse Sweep Boundaries

Young India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal continues on his rise with a third Test century and the second of the series against England. Following on from his double century in Vizag, the left-handed smoked 104 runs with the help of 9 fours and 5 sixes in Rajkot as India’s lead soared past 300 by the end of the day.

Yashasvi Jaiswal had started off steadily but shifted his gears smoothly, attacking all England bowlers he faced in the second half of his innings on Saturday. Jaiswal scored 35 runs in his first 73 balls, and then scored 65 runs in his next 49 balls to bring up another thrilling ton. However, soon after his hundred, the southpaw retired hurt due to back pain.

Jaiswal is having a breakthrough Test series. He is the leading scorer of the series right now with 435 runs in 6 innings. No other batsman has even 300 runs until today.

Rahul Dravid gives a sweet smile after Yashasvi Jaiswal hits two reverse sweeps to Rehan Ahmed

Once in full flow, Yashasvi Jaiswal brought out the range of his shots by reverse-sweeping leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed twice in a single over. On both occasions, Jaiswal switched his feet and played a sweep like a right-hander. Although it was a risky shot to play against the turn of leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed, it was a calculative approach with no men in the deep.

After the second reverse sweep went for a four, head coach Rahul Dravid and batting coach Vikram Rathour smiled. Their reactions have gone viral on social media.

Earlier in the day, India took the field without R Ashwin, but the rest of the bowlers were brilliant. England collapsed from 224/2 to 319 all out, giving India a lead of 126 runs.

After Rohit Sharma’s early wicket, Jaiswal and Gill formed a stand of 155 runs before the left-hander retired hurt, having scored a century. Gill raised his fifty too as India finish the day with a lead of 322 runs.
