Aakash Chopra Hilariously Hits Back At A Pakistani Fan On DRS Drama In WPL And PSL

Veteran Indian commentator Aakash Chopra has hit back at a Pakistani fan who mocked the DRS technology in a controversial incident during the WPL 2024 recently.

The DRS and its Hawkeye technology have had as many as three controversial incidents in the past month – one each in the PSL, India vs England Test series, and the WPL.

In the game between RCB and UP Warriorz in the WPL 2024, Chamari Athapaththu of UPW was given not out on the field, but the decision was overturned by the third umpire. While on the screen it looked like the ball was turning and going down leg, but Hawkeye showed it to be going straight. A similar incident with Joe Root has happened in the ongoing Test series in India.

Earlier in the PSL 2024 season, the Hawkeye technology made a huge blunder in the case of left-handed Rilee Rossouw. It was a mistake by the technology and Hawkeye has apologised for it.

On Twitter, after the UPW and RCB game, Aakash Chopra gave his opinion about the Chamari Athapaththu lbw dismissal and called it an error.

Aakash Chopra tweeted: “This is a leg-spin delivery. The ball pitches really close to the foot. Hawkeye’s projection takes it as a straight ball/googly…shows hitting the middle stump.
Would love to hear Hawkeye’s explanation for this. Do more errors happen when the ball is pitching really close to the impact on the pads? Remember Joe Root’s LBW was a half-volley too.”

A Pakistani fan commented: “Just like typical DRS tech in India works we have seen in England series especially the delivery against Root at 4th test.”

This got the attention of the Indian commentator who then hit back with a video reply of the technology blunder in the case of Rilee Rossouw in the PSL.

Aakash Chopra gave a video reply wherein he mocked the Hawkeye technology gaffe by expressing great shock at it.
