Watch: Rohit Sharma And Shubman Gill Receive Best Fielder Award From Jay Shah

India captain Rohit Sharma and youngster Shubman Gill were presented with the joint best fielder’s award for the recently-concluded Test series against England by the BCCI Secretary Jay Shah in Dharamsala.

India won the 5-Test series by the scoreline of 4-1, winning the last Test in Dharamsala by an innings. The fielding coach T Dilip then continued the tradition of handing out the best fielder’s medal/award for the series, which he had started during the World Cup 2023 last year.

This time, though, T Dilip made an exception and gave two players the best fielder’s medal. The fielding coach lauded both Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill for their outstanding fielding efforts throughout the series. He said since it was impossible to pick any one between the two, Dilip decided to give both of them a shared medal.

The BCCI Secretary Jay Shah was present in the dressing room and he handed the award to Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill.

Soon after the completion of the Dharamsala Test, Jay Shah announced ‘Test Cricket Incentive Scheme’ for the cricketers. In this, the board has allocated INR 40 crore to be handed to players for the entire season depending on the number of matches they are part of or on the bench.

Jay Shah tweeted: “I am pleased to announce the initiation of the ‘Test Cricket Incentive Scheme’ for Senior Men, a step aimed at providing financial growth and stability to our esteemed athletes. Commencing from the 2022-23 season, the ‘Test Cricket Incentive Scheme’ will serve as an additional reward structure on top of the existing match fee for Test matches, set at INR 15 lakhs.”
