Mitchell Starc clashed with Rinku Singh during KKR’s intra-squad match on Tuesday at the Eden Gardens, and the young Indian left-hander towered over the lanky Australian pacer by smashing him for a superb six with just a flick.

Mitchell Starc is one of the deadliest pacers in the world, but even he couldn’t make Rinku Singh nervous during KKR’s second intra-squad match at the Eden Gardens ahead of the IPL 2024 season.

Starc, who was bought for a record sum of INR 24.75 crore by KK in the IPL 2024 auction in December, was blasted for a stunning six by Rinku, the 26-year-old from Uttar Pradesh who has won hearts and accolades over the past year. A video from this event has gone viral on social media

The KKR players were distributed in two teams – Team Gold and Team Purple, the latter won the game by only five runs.

At the start of the last over of Team Gold’s batting, Mitchell Starc steamed in to bowl and attempted a yorker. However, the left-arm quick missed his mark and instead dished out a low full toss. Ready for slog, Rinku picked up the length and pace quickly and smashed it over deep square leg for a six, leaving Starc and the commentators stunned.

Team Gold batted first and made a huge total of 238 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Rinku Singh scored 37* off 16 balls in the practice match. Andre Russell, the big Jamaican all-rounder, too showed his destructive skills by cracking 35 runs in only 14 balls. Veteran domestic batsman Manish Pandey, who has returned to KKR, played a sensational innings of 51* in 24 balls.

KKR, who also have Gautam Gambhir in the dugout as their mentor, will start their IPL 2024 campaign on March 23 against SRH in Kolkata.
