The Indian cricket team has already kickstarted its preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. The Men in Blue will play two practice games against Western Australia on October 10 and 13 and then after that, the side will square off against Australia and New Zealand in the warm-up fixtures ahead of the marquee tournament.
Going into the T20 World Cup 2022, Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav is one of the batters who has most impressed with his batting this year. His form is the biggest positive for the Indian side. He is also the leading run-getter in T20Is this year and is the No.2 ranked batter in ICC T20I Rankings.
Surya’s performance in Australia will play a big role in the Indian side’s result and in a video uploaded by the BCCI’s official Twitter handle, the right-handed batter opened up about his preparations for the mega event that will start on October 16th with the qualifiers first. In the video, SKY opened up on his first practice session in Australia ahead of the T20 World Cup. He said:
“I was really looking forward to coming here and attending the first practice session. Go on the ground, have a walk, have a run, and feel how it’s like here. The first net session was also really amazing. Just want to see how the pace of the wicket is, how the bounce is. So obviously I’m starting a little slow. Understandably, there were a few little butterflies at the start, but there was excitement as well.”
He added: “You have to see how you manage to gel yourselves with the conditions here. Kaise peak krte ho right time pr. Aur wahi mai bhi dekh raha hoon. Excitement hai but at the same time apna process aur routine follow krna bhi bahut jaruri hai (How you peak at the right time, I am also looking forward to it. There’s excitement, but at the same time, it’s important to follow your process and routine).”
Furthermore, talking about the net session, SKY said: “Practice k time pr mujhe aisa lagta hai ki wahi jo wicket pr bounce hai, wicket ka pace hai, ground k dimensions hai yaha pr, so apna game plan ready krna bhot jruri hai yaha pr. Kaise run banaoge yaha pr, all these things are very important. Thoda halka sa thanda hawa chalta hai but I think it’s same like India. Good conditions, really looking forward to it (During practice session I felt that it is important to ready your game plan according to the dimension of the ground and pace, bounce of the wicket here. Know how to make runs is very important. The conditions are almost like India, except for the cold wind, but overall good conditions and I am really looking forward to it),”
