Most of the Team India players and the support staff for the T20 World Cup departed for Australia on Thursday, October 6.
Led by skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid, India will look for their second T20 World Cup title, having never lifted the trophy since MS Dhoni marched a young side to the inaugural T20 world title back in 2007.
India have been in fierce form since Rohit Sharma took over the captaincy job full-time after India’s group-stage exit last year at the T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE. Since then, India have won 8 and drawn one bilateral T20I series. However, the failure to reach the final of the Asia Cup and the death bowling woes are a concern for the Men In Blue.
Rohit Sharma stops and wishes a girl on her birthday

A video of India captain Rohit Sharma has gone viral in which the skipper was going to board his flight, but before that, he stopped for a girl waiting for him. Sharma signed an autograph for her and also wished her a very happy birthday. The female fan was elated to have one of her heroes sign an autograph for her, that too on her special day.
This video showed Rohit Sharma’s humbleness despite being a superstar and a big celebrity in India and his down-to-earth nature; the way he cares for his fans and the value he gives to his fans.

Rohit Sharma spoke on the replacement of Bumrah
Meanwhile, India are fretting over the replacement of Jasprit Bumrah in the squad. After Bumrah was ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to his back injury, the BCCI hasn’t yet named his replacement in the squad.
Mohammed Shami is the likeliest candidate to replace Bumrah in the squad given his vast experience and his bowling skillset. However, Shami hasn’t played T20Is since last year’s T20 World Cup in the UAE, and recently had a bout with covid-19 which forced him to miss the T20I series against Australia and South Africa.
After the T20I series against the Protea, Rohit Sharma was asked about India’s plans of finalizing Jasprit Bumrah’s replacement. The Indian skipper didn’t name any pacer, adding that the management will have a look at the bowlers in the warm-up matches before their first game against Pakistan on October 23.
“Only 7,8 members of the squad have been to Australia, so we have organised a few practise games. We need to understand what combination we can play. Bumrah is out of the World Cup, so we need to find a bowler who has the experience of bowling in Australia. Not sure who that bowler is going to be, we will see once we travel to Australia, we’ll find it out there,” Rohit said after India’s 49-run defeat to South Africa in Indore.
