Sourav Ganguly Takes A Dig At The Virat Kohli Fans After India’s World Cup Win: India became World Champions after winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 under Rohit Sharma. Sharma has been a sensational captain for the Indian Cricket Team. He led India to the semi final of the T20 World Cup 2022, final of the WTC 2023, final of the ODI World Cup 2023 without losing any game, champions of Asia cup 2023 and now the champions of the T20 World Cup 2024. He has been tactically brilliant as the captain of the team and has led the team right from the front by playing selflessly.

However, making Rohit Sharma captain did come with its fair share of controversies. Ahead of the T20 World Cup 2021, Virat Kohli announced that he will leave the captaincy of the shorter format, but wanted to continue leading the teaming the ODI and test format.

However, the then BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly, sacked Kohli from ODI captaincy citing reasons that there can’t be two white ball captains in the national team. Ahead of the tour of South Africa, Kohli boldly claimed that he was not informed beforehand to leave the ODI captaincy and thus contradicting Ganguly’s statements. Ganguly a brutally trolled and abused for disrespecting Kohli. Later, after the test series against South Africa, Kohli led the test captaincy as well, adding fuel into the fire.

After India won the T20 World Cup 2024, Sourav Ganguly has remained everyone about hoe he was abused when he appointed Rohit Sharma as India’s captain and now how everyone has forgotten it as India have become world champions.

When I handed Rohit Sharma the captaincy of the Indian team, everyone criticised me. Now that India has won the T20 World Cup under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, everyone has stopped abusing me for it. In fact, I think everyone has forgotten that it was I who appointed him as the captain of the Indian team,” Ganguly told Bengali daily Aajkaal.
