Tweet Of Wasim Jaffer On India vs Pakistan Clash In Asia Cup 2022 Has Gone Viral: After 10 months since their T20 World Cup 2021 encounter in Dubai, India and Pakistan will clash once again at the same venue – this time in their group encounter of Asia Cup 2022 on August 28. The six-nation tournament will start on August 27 with Sri Lanka clashing with Afghanistan.
On Tuesday, the Asian Cricket Council president and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary, Jay Shah, shared the schedule of the tournament.
“The wait is finally over as the battle for Asian supremacy commences on 27th August with the all-important final on 11th September. The 15th edition of the Asia Cup will serve as ideal preparation ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup,” Shah tweeted while sharing the fixture list.

The tournament will be played in the T20 format – for the second time in its history after 2016 – helping teams in their preparation for the T20 World Cup later in the year in Australia.
Six teams are parted into two groups: India, Pakistan and the team that wins the qualifying tournament comprise Group A, while Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh are in Group B. UAE, Kuwait, Singapore and Hong Kong will battle in the Qualifying tournament Oman from August 20.
Each team will play the other two in their group once, and the top two teams from each group will enter a Super 4 round that starts on September 3. The teams in the Super 4 round will play each other once, with the top two sides qualifying for the final on September 11.
Ten games will be played in Dubai and three in Sharjah. All the matches will start at 6 pm local time.
India are the defending champions, having won the tournament in 2018 by defeating Bangladesh in the final. That was in ODI format. And before that India also won the 2016 edition which was in T20 format, again defeating Bangladesh in Dhaka.
This gives India are chance to have their revenge over arch-rivals Pakistan for their 10-wicket thrashing at the T20 World Cup last year. In fact, both teams will met twice if both qualify for Super 4 – which is all but a certainty – and also thrice if they reach the final as well.
This announcement of the dates ensued a meme-fest on Twitter, led by former India opener Wasim Jaffer who is known for funny tweets.
“2 India v Pak games in Asia Cup. Meanwhile, broadcasters: #INDvPAK,” Wasim Jaffer captioned his post.
