Sanju Samson: As Chennai walked into their second encounter without their last match’s hero, citing injury reason, Rajasthan Royals welcomed the Yellow army in style.
Batting first, they encountered an initial snag as Deepak Chahar removed the young Yashashvi Jaiswal with a short ball. Chahar followed it up with some cracking delivers giving a tough test to Samson and Steven Smith.
However, proving everyone one wrong, the man who came out on top was none other than Sanju Samson, the man in contention of India’s wicket-keeping spot.
He started his blitzkrieg against Sam Curran, as he played a couple of blistering strokes one rolling to the third man boundary while the other flew over deep square leg. The following over saw him emulating his feat against Deepak Chahar taking him to the cleaners with consummate ease.
This however was just the beginning of the pyrotechnics show as Samson humiliated Jadeja and Chawla with more of those intercontinental strikes sweeping away the audience of their feet. Twitter finally got some batting heroics to cheer for.
Lungi Ngidi finally applied the brakes as he removed Samson after he failed to connect a ball, holing out to Deepak Chahar for a phenomenal 32-ball-74.
