Former Indian captain Virat Kohli equaled India captain Rohit Sharma’s unique T20I record with his stunning knock during the second T20I between India and West Indies at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Friday. Virat Kohli played a crucial knock to help the Indian side seal the ongoing three-match T20I series as India took an unassailable lead of 2-0.

Virat Kohli may have not scored an international century for over two years but the numbers don’t reflect the mercurial player’s batting prowess. On Friday, Virat added another feather to his already illustrious cap after scoring a half-century in the second T20I match.

Coming out to bat early on 2nd T20I, after the dismissal of Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli smashed a stunning boundary of the first ball he faced to open his account and then went on to slam a fiery fifty. He showed glimpses of his vintage form as he smashed the Windies bowlers to all the corners of the ground.

Virat Kohli smashed seven fours and one six in his innings of 52 off 41 balls. He smashed his 30th fifty in the shortest format, which was also his first since the 57 versus Pakistan in the T20 World Cup on October 24 last year.

With this knock, Virat equaled India captain Rohit Sharma‘s unique T20I record. Before this game, Virat Kohli had scored 29 fifties before Friday in 96 matches.
