Here’s Why Virat And Rohit Fans Are Fighting Against Each Other On Social Media

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are two big names in world cricket. Kohli had reigned supreme in world cricket for the past decade, Rohit, who has been a premier white-ball opener since 2013, saw his stature rise since he attained success as a Test opener in 2019.

Therefore, the battle between their followers on social media has been intense involving immense throwing of stats with added filters showing that their favorite batsman is better than the other stalwart.

It hasn’t helped that often there have been “reports” from “sources” about a possible rift between Sharma and Kohli – more so since Kohli was promoted to captaincy in white-ball cricket in 2017. Both the players and the BCCI officials have at times denied any kind of rift between them.

One such tussle between the fans has recently grown because of the two cricketer’s Instagram. One fan on Twitter brought to notice that while Kohli is following Sharma, the opener isn’t following the former captain. The matchstick was sparked and soon it turned into a forest fire becoming the talk of the town.

As fans pointed out, this isn’t the first time Rohit Sharma is in the news for his Instagram activity. Back in 2018, Sharma had unfollowed Kohli on Twitter and Instagram, and it became big news among fans and experts questioning the bonding between the duo. The following year, the Hitman was once again making headlines after he unfollowed Kohli’s wife, Anushka Sharma, on Instagram.

As far as Kohli is concerned, he was clear in quashing the reports of a rift with Sharma, saying that “there is no problem at all” between them.

“Between me and Rohit, I have already addressed this on several occasions, there is no problem at all,” Kohli said before leaving for South Africa in December.
“Honestly from the last two or two-and-a-half years I have been clarifying regularly and I am now tired clarifying this point that because that question is repeatedly asked of me. I can say one thing with guarantee that any action of mine, any communication, won’t be to put the team down till I play cricket. That’s my commitment to Indian cricket.”

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma, who took over the limited-overs captain, is likely to be named as the next Test captain as well.
