Virat Kohli Sends A Strong Message To His Critics

Former India captain Virat Kohli has sent out a strong message for all his critics and haters via his latest social media post.

Kohli recently showed brilliant form on the South Africa tour with a high self-restraint half-century in the third Test and two fifties in the three ODIs. However, a three-figure score – his 71st – continues to elude the run machine.

Apart from the on-field dip in form, Kohli also has to deal with off the field issues when he went against the BCCI over the past few months. Starting with his resignation as the T20I skipper, which was followed by being sacked as the ODI captain. He had a public contradiction with BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly.

Sourav Ganguly had said that the BCCI officials had asked Kohli to reconsider his decision of stepping down as the T20I skipper. However, Kohli totally contradicted Ganguly’s statement.

The final straw came when Kohli announced an unforeseen resignation as the Test captain, just a day after India had been beaten in the Test series by South Africa, and shocked the fans with his announcement. Kohli played the ODI series as a batsman, under KL Rahul who was standing in for the injured Rohit Sharma.

Kohli is set to play under Rohit Sharma for the first time in the upcoming home white-ball matches against West Indies.

Before going into isolation in Ahmedabad, where the ODI series will be played, Kohli sent out a strong message for everyone to see.

He posted a picture of himself staring deep in a mirror, and captioned the post: “Its always you vs you.”

Meanwhile, former India coach Ravi Shastri, who Kohli attained his Test success over the past 5 years, spoke about the 33-year-old’s decision to quit as Test captain. Shastri said that we should respect Kohli’s call.

He opined that Kohli may have taken this decision to focus more on his batting, pointing out that earlier former captains have also quit to put more focus on their personal form.

“It’s his choice. You have to respect his decision. There is a time for everything. A lot of big players in the past have left captaincy when they felt they wanted to focus on their batting or on their cricket. Whether it’s (Sachin) Tendulkar, (Sunil) Gavaskar or (MS) Dhoni. And, it’s Virat Kohli now,” Shastri told PTI.

India host West Indies for a 3-ODI series starting February 6th followed by 3 T20Is.
