In a Twitter post, he said, “Every thing has to come to a halt at some stage and for me as Test captain of India, it’s now. There have been many ups and also some downs along the journey but there has never been lack of effort or lack of belief.”

When Virat took over the captaincy duties from MS Dhoni in 2014/2015, the Indian side was at the number 7th position, but he took the Indian side to new heights. He took the Indian cricket team to the number 1 spot in the ICC Test rankings.
Virat Kohli has ended his captaincy stint of 7-years as the most successful skippers to have led the Indian cricket team, having won 40 out of 68 games.
