5 Cricketers Who Were Dumped In Love: As much as the cricketers wish for best fortunes on the field, they do hope for it off the field as well. A very few percentages of cricketers make it big in the international arena, but the rest of them do pretty happily in their personal life.
However, even, at times, some of the best in the world, those who have achieved a great deal in their professional life, don’t go by happily in matters of love. Sometimes marriages fail, relationships break, heartbreaks happen, players get dumped by their partners. But the strong-minded ones get up, dust themselves off, and continue to thrive on the professional front.
Here is a list of 5 cricketers – two Indians included – who were stopped being loved by their partners.
Brett Lee
Former Australia fast bowler Brett Lee, who used to terrorize the opposition batters, had a difficult time in his marriage which fell apart eventually. Brett Lee married Elizabeth Kemp in June 2006 and had a son. But after two years of marriage, Lee confirmed his separation from Elizabeth and they got divorced in 2009.
Media reports at that time suggested Kemp was having an affair with a rugby player in Brisbane. Brett Lee, who still remains a handsome hunk, then married Lana Anderson in 2014 after one year of dating; they have two children.
The charming-looking Dinesh Karthik had a failed first marriage with his childhood friend Nikita Vanjara. What’s worse is that Nikita cheated on Karthik with his Tamil Nadu and India teammate, Murali Vijay. Following the realization of Nikita’s affair, Karthik split the marriage in 2012 after 5 years of being married.
Karthik got engaged to Indian squash player Dipika Pallikal in November 2013, and they married in traditional Christian and Hindu ceremonies in August 2015. The couple became parents to twin boys, Kabir and Zian last year.
Tillakaratne Dilshan
Similar to Dinesh Karthik, Tillakaratne Dilshan, the former swashbuckling Sri Lankan opener, was cheated on by his former wife, Nilanka Vithanage, with his opening partner, Upul Tharanga.
Dilshan also had 1 son, Resadu Tillakaratne, from his first marriage with Nilanka. Later Upul Tharanga and Nilanka Vithange got married.
Dilshan is now married to Sri Lankan actress Manjula Thilini; the pair has two daughters and two sons.
Shane Watson
Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson, a champion on the field, had difficulties in one of his previous relationships. Very few people know this thing related to Shane Watson, that he had been cheated on in his first love.
Watson’s girlfriend had left him and made someone else her partner, post which the all-rounder wasn’t in the best state of mind. Thankfully, he later met Lee Furlong, a broadcaster, and have been leading a happy life since; the couple has two children.
Rohit Sharma:
Before Rohit Sharma was this giant, superstar India opener that he is today, the right-hander had reportedly dated actress Sofia Hayat. That relationship didn’t last much and the pair broke up. While Rohit Sharma has never spoken openly about this, Sofia has admitted that she was in a relationship with Sharma and it was she who decided to leave the Indian batsman.
Sharma then fell in love with Ritika Sajdeh. They got married in December 2015 and have a daughter, Samaira, who was born in December 2018.
