818 Runs In 50 Overs Including 48 Sixes And 70 Fours

Unlike all the times, Bangladesh’s domestic cricket made headlines for all the wonderful reasons, all thanks to a bizarre run-fest during a Bangladesh 2nd ODI between North Bengal Cricket Academy and Talent Hunt Cricket Academy in Dhaka on Monday.

Both sides gave a swashbuckling performance and blew the minds of everyone with the bizarre run-fest. Batting first the North Bengal Cricket Academy scored a whopping total of 432 runs [4-432] in fifty overs- an inning, where they smashed 27 sixes.

Chasing the mammoth target of 433, the Talent Hunt Cricket Academy gave a blockbuster performance as well but failed to win the match as they eventually fell short by 46 runs, finishing with 7-386, which included 21 sixes.

“This is very unusual. I have been familiar with Dhaka’s domestic cricket for many years. But I never saw anything like this,” said Syed Ali Asad, who is a club cricket organizer, has seen an excessive amount of cricket as the organizer of cricket in Dhaka.

In the international scene of cricket, the highest runs-scored in an ODI is 872 and there have been three occasions when the 800 run-mark was breached.

1. The highest runs — 872 were scored by South Africa and Australia during the fifth ODI in 2006, where South Africa had defeated Australia by one wicket and with a ball to spare.

2. The second-highest ODI runs — 825 were scored by India and Sri Lanka in 2009 during the first ODI between the two. India won that match by three runs.

3. The third highest ODI runs — 807 were scored by West Indies and England in the fourth ODI at St. George’s Park, where England won the match by 29 runs.
