India’s newly-appointed ODI and T20I captain, Rohit Sharma, revealed his new look to his fans on Wednesday.

Rohit Sharma, who is also appointed as the new Test skipper replacing Ajinkya Rahane, has now gone full clean shave with his beard. It has been a long time since the opener was last seen without any beard, stubble, or moustache; that trend of bears has been en vogue among Indian players for a few years now.

Rohit Sharma uploaded his pic in which he looks in deep thought. His doting wife, Ritika Sajdeh, picked up on that and left a remark

Ritika commented, “Why so broody” inquiring for her husband’s thoughts.

There were comments from other cricketers as well. Left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed said he was reminded of Rohit’s facial look during their under-19 days while his India and Mumbai Indians teammate Suryakumar Yadav commented: “Chakachak”

Speaking of his professional life, Rohit Sharma was ruled out of India’s tour of South Africa from both the Test and ODI series due to a hamstring injury. This meant that KL Rahul was promoted to the vice-captaincy duties in Test and has been named as the ODI skipper for the ODI series versus the Proteas.

The South Africa ODI series was supposed to be Rohit Sharma’s first as in-charge of the ODI team as a full-time skipper. However, it wasn’t to be owing to his injury.

Chairman of selectors Chetan Sharma said the decision to not send Rohit to South Africa was taken keeping his frequent injury and important events in mind, including the T20 World Cup and the ODI World Cup, in the coming two years.
“This is the only reason why we have decided to let him work on his rehab, work on his fitness, work on his muscles,” Chetan Sharma had said while announcing the ODI squad.
“Nobody gets injured on purpose. This is precisely why we didn’t send him to South Africa because we want him to go back to 100% fitness because there are important events and World Cups coming. That is the reason why he is not going to South Africa, and KL Rahul is the captain.”

Rohit Sharma is expected to recover in time for the home ODI series against West Indies in February.
