Twitter Reacts After NZ Avenge 2019 Heartbreak To Script A Sensational Win Against Eng

What a match! Riding on the terrific performance of Daryl Mitchell, the New Zealand cricket team thrashed England in the semi-final stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium.

Though, the Kiwis struggled initially in the chase as they could only score 36/2 by the end of the Powerplay overs. Pacer Chris Woakes gave a major blow to New Zealand by dismissing both Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson. After the powerplay, the Kiwis crawled to 58/2 after 10 overs. But soon they picked up the ante to some extent as they brought up their 50-run partnership off 48 deliveries.

However, Conway was soon dismissed for 46 runs and Glenn Phillips followed him to the pavilion soon after as Livingstone’s double strike jolted the Kiwis. However, Jimmy Neesham walked out to bat and changed the game. Neesham’s 27 off 11 balls changed the fate of the game as he allowed his batting partner Daryl Mitchell to find his range. Neesham smashed 3 powerful sixes and a boundary during his knock.

On the other hand, Mitchell remained unbeaten till the end of the last ball. He played a sensational knock of 72 runs off 47 balls, smashing boundaries and 4 sixes to take his side home.

This win was special for the Kiwis in every way. The last time New Zealand and England locked their horns at an ICC event were in the final of the ODI World Cup in 2019. Though the final match and the concurrent Super Over ended in a draw, the Eoin Morgan-led side was crowned winners on the basis of their boundary count.

Therefore by winning the semi-final against England, the Kiwis have taken sweet revenge. As Nasser Hussain rightly said: “The pain of Lords 2019 ends in Sheikh Zayed Stadium in 2021″.

Meanwhile, as soon as Kane Williamson’s side won the semi-final, social media was already flooded with amazing reactions from the fans to it. From cricketers, experts to fans, people took to Twitter and came up with amazing reactions while lauding the performance of the Kiwis. There were many who came up with hilarious memes while reacting to the incredible win.
