The second half of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), to be held in the United Arab Emirates, is just around the corner. The second leg of the IPL 2021 will see the implementation of new rules. These rules have been made to ensure the safety of the cricketers as earlier IPL 2021 was suspended mid-way because of the outbreak of COVID-19 within the bio-bubble.
Here, we bring you a list of 7 new rules of IPL 2021, have a look:
1. Distinct Check-in Counters:
In order to ensure that the cricketers remain separated from the outside world throughout their transit from room to field, the players will have separate check-in counters at the hotels.

2. Three RT-PCR Tests mandatory for entering Bubble:
Cricketers who arenβt coming from another bubble will have to go through 3 RT-PCR tests over a period of their mandatory seven days of quarantine in UAE. They will be allowed to join the bubble after they return negative in all three tests.
3. Bubble-to-bubble transfer:
BCCI has offered some respite to the players, who were a part of the India vs England Test series to move from their existing bubble into the IPL bubble without any intervening period of isolation as they were already in a bio-bubble.
4. Replacement of Balls:
Many studies have assured that the cricket balls arenβt likely to be the carriers of COVID-19 but in order to eliminate the risk, it has been decided that if a ball goes into the stands of outside the ground, it would be immediately replaced. But with that, the replaced ball wonβt be discarded but will be disinfected for further use.
βIf the cricket ball goes in the stands or outside the stadium, the fourth umpire will provide a replacement from the library of cricket balls. The previous ball when returned will be sanitized with alcohol-based wipes and/or UV-C by the fourth umpire and placed in the library,β the health advisory states.

5. Bio-Bubble Managers:
A four-member team of βBubble Integrity Managersβ has been created in order to ensure that no violation of the bio-bubble happens throughout the tournament. Also, the team of bubble managers will be informing the authorities about any potential breach of protocols.
6. Teamsβ territory in the hotel to be completely sealed off:
This time the officials have gone a step further to ensure the safety of cricketers. BCCI has tried to book the entire hotel for the squads and if that wasnβt possible, they have booked an entire wing of the hotel. These sections would be sealed off for those not part of the group.

7. Playersβ family members & franchise owners to be kept in bio bubble:
The family members and the owners and staff of the franchises will also be kept in the bio-bubble and they will also have to follow all the strict rules of the bio-bubble.
