The legendary Indian actor Dilip Kumar’s death on Wednesday has left the entire country in shock and mourning. Dilip Kumar who passed away at the age of 98 had been facing regular health issues for months now, passed away at Mumbai’s Hinduja Hospital.
Dilip Sahab, who was known as the ‘Tragedy King’ of Bollywood, was known as the method actor. The prolific legend was part of comedies, dramas, romance, and so on, in a career spanning more than five decades. He has left a void in cinema and a huge legacy behind him, for actors and moviemakers to learn from. Some of his best-known films include Aan, Daag, Devdas, Madhumati, Azaad, Mughal-e-Azam, and many more.
The news was announced by Dilip Kumar’s friend Faisal Farooqui via the actor’s official Instagram account, he wrote:
“With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, few minutes ago. We are from God and to Him we return,”
As soon as the news of his demise came out, social media was flooded with reactions from fans and celebrities from around the country. Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar also took to his Twitter and paid tribute to one of the biggest actors of the country.
In his tweet, Sachin hailed the legacy of Dilip Kumar and wrote how there will never be another like him. He wrote:
“Rest in Peace Dilip Kumar ji!
There will never be another like you.
Your contribution to Indian cinema is unparalleled and you’ll be missed dearly. My heartfelt condolences to Saira Banu ji & the family.”
