The Indian women’s cricket team lost their first of the ongoing three ODI series against England by 8 wickets, despite valient efforts from the Indian skipper Mithali Raj. India’s star batter and skipper Mithali Raj played a caution knock to ensure team India get to a respectable total.

Though the Indian skipper improved her strike rate with a few vital boundaries at the death, after she brought her  56th ODI fifty, however, she collapsed right at the end. Eventually team India couldn’t post even a par score on what appears to be a good batting surface, as they posted a target of 201 runs.

However, her slow and cautious knock has been receiving mixed reactions from the fans. Meanwhile, Harsha Bhogle took to his Twitter and hailed Mithali Raj for her efforts on-field. Harsha expressed how Mithali is still getting runs for the team, despite being the senior-most international player. He wrote:

“She is still holding the batting together. The seniormost international cricketer playing today is still getting runs. What a player! @M_Raj03″

The tweet soon went viral and was welcomed with mixed reactions from the fans to it. Among many, a fan took to his comments section and claimed that it was ‘more or less a useless innings for the team’. He also added that the knock may look good in her stats. He wrote:

“Its more or less a useless innings for the team. May look good in her stats. Just like how most indian men used to play in 90s(except Sachin an Jadeja)”

The tweet soon caught the attention of Harsha Bhogle, who came up with a fitting reply to the fan. In his reply, Bhogle sarcastically wrote that team India would have given a much stiffer target to England at a prettier strike rate. He wrote:

“Absolutely. Scoring 150 all out in 30 overs, at a prettier strike rate, would have represented a much stiffer target for England than the 201 India got.”
