India’s young fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has made a big name for himself in the last couple of years. He caught eyeballs during his first season for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League, in which he impressed one and all with his speed, accuracy and unorthodox bowling action. He worked very hard under the mentorship of Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga and learned the art of bowling yorker from him.
Presently, Bumrah is one of the best fast bowlers in world cricket. His ability to bowl deadly yorkers in death overs makes him an asset in shorter formats of cricket. In IPL 2017, Bumrah was Mumbai Indians main bowler and they had the likes of Mitchell Johnson, Lasith Malinga and other good bowlers in their side. On most of the occasions, Bumrah was given the responsibility to bowl during pressure situations.
Former Australian cricketer and one of the greatest fast bowlers in cricket history, Glenn McGrath was all praise for Bumrah during an interview before the ICC Champions Trophy 2017. This is what he said:
“He is a very improved bowler and his style of bowling is perfect for shorter formats.The way he bowls at the death is impressive. In addition to a fine length, he also generates good pace. He can come up with occasional yorkers as well. He is a quality pacer and I hope he continues to improve,” he said.
