India and Royal Challengers Bangalore’s young talent Devdutt Padikkal left everyone in awe of his batting skills during the previous edition of the Indian Premier League. Devdutt had a memorable debut IPL campaign for RCB last year.

Though, the team once again failed to make it to the finals, however, Devdutt’s performances for RCB stole all the limelight. It won’t be wrong to say that the Indian cricket fans saw the birth of a talented young star. The young talent is all set to steal the show once again in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.

Ahead of the much-awaited tournament, in an interview, Devdutt named Gautam Gambhir as his cricketing role model. Devdutt revealed that he still watches Gambhir’s old batting videos and tries to learn from him. Devdutt said:

“For me, there is not one individual who has inspired me. Every person has a separate story and everyone really has gone through with something to get there in their career. I take inspiration from every cricketer who has played for India because getting there is not easy at all. It takes a lot to get there. They have done a lot to reach that level and contributed to the country,”

But my role model is Gambhir. I have grown up watching him bat. I still watch his videos. I still love his batting. Gambhir is my cricketing role model,”

Meanwhile, Devdutt was tested positive for Coronavirus on March 22 and has been quarantined ever since. However, Virat Kohli-led RCB will be a happy team now as their star opener has finally tested negative for COVID-19 in his second Test.

Though he has now tested negative he will be continuously monitored and therefore he might miss the season opener Mumbai India vs Royal Challengers Bangalore clash on April 9 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
