Wasim Jaffer Took A Hilarious Dig At Third Umpire For Giving Tim Paine ‘Not Out’

Wasim Jaffer Took A Hilarious Dig At Third Umpire’s For Giving Tim Paine ‘Not Out’: Ajinkya Rahane led Team India was on the wrong side of a couple of close calls despite dominating the first two sessions of the Boxing-day Test against Australia. Tim Paine was adjourned as ‘Not-Out’ by third umpire Paul Wilson during the start of the 3rd session.

It happened during the 55th over of the game when India got the perfect opportunity to dismiss the in-form batsman Tim Paine. There was a big mix-up between young all-rounder Cameron Green and Tim Paine in the 55th over and Tim Paine was seen struggling to reach the striker’s end.

A decent throw from Umesh Yadav was collected well by Rishabh Pant, who broke the stumps. However, the Indian fielders were not comfortable but the replays made it look closer. In fact, there was no evidence that suggests Tim Paine’s bat was beyond the crease line from an off-side camera angle.

The third umpire then asked for a leg-side and even with that, there was no conclusive evidence that any part of Tim Paine’s bat was over the crease. Before flashing ‘Not Out’ on the big screen at the MCG, third umpire Paul Wilson was heard saying:

“There’s no conclusive evidence to show the bat is on the wrong side of the line, so the bat looks like it could have a bit over the line. My decision is not out,”

However, the decision didn’t impress the Indian skipper Ajinkya Rahane as he was spotted having a conversation with the on-field umpire.

Meanwhile, fans on social media also pointed out the error made by the third umpire. Among many, former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer also took to his Twitter and shared a hilarious meme while reacting to the incident. In his tweet, Jaffer took a hilarious dig at the umpires for their mistake. He wrote:

“Third umpire watching the replay before pressing Not out.”

Besides Wasim Jaffer, several other cricketers and cricket experts also reacted to the same. Here, check out the reactions of the same:

That was OUT.
Jason Holder was right. If players can be in a bio-bubble for soooo long….let umpires should be doing the same. #AusvInd

#INDvsAUS #MelbourneTest While the benefit of doubt ought to be with the batsman , in the era of video replays this was clearly on the line & Out ? A mockery of DRS which should have had the batsman run out & back in the pavilion ? All marginal decisions going against Team India
