Nasser Hussain Speaks Against Virat Kohli’s Captaincy In T20Is: Ever since Rohit Sharma has lifted the trophy of IPL 2020 for his team Mumbai Indians, the ‘Virat Kohli vs Rohit Sharma’ as the Team India captain in the limited-overs cricket has re-ignited in the cricket fraternity. The preposition for making Rohit Sharma the skipper of Team India in the limited-overs cricket was first suggested by former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir, who suggested that it’s high time that BCCI moves on from Virat and hands over the responsibility to Rohit Sharma.
Now the latest one to join the debate is the former England skipper Nasser Hussain, who has backed Rohit Sharma for India’s captain in limited-overs.
Recently, in an interview with Sky Sports, Nasser Hussain suggested that it’s time for Kohli to step down from the captaincy position in limited-overs cricket and hand over the captaincy role to his deputy-Rohit Sharma. He said:
“His captaincy, he is calm, cool, makes the right decisions at the right time and he has had such a good time with MI that there are various cricketers around the world now, including in India, saying that maybe it is time for Virat [Kohli] to step down from T20s and let Rohit take over. His record speaks for himself,”
He also hailed Rohit Sharma for his leadership skills and for his performances. He said:
“He is one of the great white ball players. If you look at the 50-over cricket, he has a couple of double hundreds he has had massive scores, in T20, he lost a bit of rhythm but he made runs in the final,”
He added:
“He is a decent guy when he said I should have sacrificed my wicket for Suryakumar Yadav [in the IPL final]. He is a seriously very good player and captain,”
