The defending champions, India could not defend their ICC U19 World Cup title successfully as the boys from Bangladesh overcame a challenge from them by 3 wickets in the final of ICC U19 World Cup 2020. Bangladesh U-19s were playing their first-ever U-19 finale and they showed no nerves at all as they beat the star-studded Indian team. No one gave Bangladesh a chance to win this game however, Akbar Ali and co. showed that they are here to rule the future.

Talking about the match first, India U19s could only post 177 runs on the board courtesy of some fine bowling performances from Avishek Das, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Shoriful Islam. The trio scalped 7 wickets between themselves as they bamboozled the Indian team. Yashasvi Jaiswal tried his best with a knock of 88 runs at the top however, he got no support from the other end. Tilak Varma and Dhruv Chand Jurel were the only two players who could surpass the 20-runs landmark in the first innings.

Bangladesh U-19s were right on the money with the ball. Das ended the innings with three wickets while there was an embarrassing Pakistan-esque run out involving two of India’s players. In the second innings, India U19s conceded too many extras to lose the match. Ravi Bishnoi was the lone saving grace for the team as he scalped four wickets albeit in a losing cause.

Bangladeshi opening batsman, Mohammad Parvez Hossain played the best knock of his career as he came back from a hamstring injury to score 47 runs. He got proper support from Akbar Ali who remained unbeaten on 43. Sushant Mishra picked up two wickets as well but, he gave away 6 runs via extras. Even Kartik Tyagi and Akash Singh gave away 5 extras each as India U-19s gave 33 runs as extras to their opponents. Ultimately, rain reduced the game to 46 overs as Bangladesh got a revised target of 170 runs. Rakibul Hasan scored the winning run for Bangladesh U-19s and here are the best tweets from the match.
