Twitterati Can’t Stop Praising Ross Taylor After He Broke Down Remembering His Mentor Martin Crowe

Ross Taylor is one of the most loved cricketers in the world. In his long and successful career, which is still going strong, Taylor has won the love and respect of cricket fans across the world through his cricketing skills and gentlemanly conduct on the field.

In the recently concluded Test series against Australia, Ross Taylor became the leading run-scorer ever for New Zealand in Test cricket. Taylor has been a great servant for New Zealand and also a great ambassador for the game of cricket. In the last Test match of the recently concluded series against Australia, Ross Taylor increased his tally of runs to 7,174 runs, two more than former New Zealand skipper Stephen Fleming’s tally of 7,172 runs. Taylor is also New Zealand’s top scorer in ODIs with a tally of 8,376 runs.

While addressing the media after his achievement, Ross Taylor broke down and remembered his mentor and one of the best batsmen’s game’s history, Martin Crowe.

“My goal was to play one test match. I guess it’s an emotional time because my mentor Martin Crowe, that was one of the goals he put down for me was to be New Zealand’s highest test run-scorer. To be honest, I didn’t believe him, but I’d have loved for him to be here and help celebrate,” Ross Taylor said.

“When I first played for New Zealand I’d had a pretty decent one-day career and only scored three or four first-class hundreds and Twenty20 was just coming through. I always thought I was good enough to play one-day cricket, but Test cricket was something I was never quite sure if I was good enough. That’s why I’d seek Martin’s help to become a better player than the raw, gay abandon player that I was as a youngster,” he added.
