Shreyas Iyer Raised His Bat On 49 And Players Couldn’t Stop Laughing

Shreyas Iyer Raised His Bat On 49 And Players Couldn’t Stop Laughing: India got off to a flying start in the second ODI of the ongoing series against the West Indies. Both the openers– KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma–played freely and made West Indies’ bowling attack look ordinary with their class and aggressive stroke play. Rohit and Rahul, both scored hundreds and entertained the packed crowd in Vishakhapatnam.

Rohit, in his trademark style, scored a daddy hundred and there was once again that ‘will he score another 200 in ODI cricket’ excitement among millions of Indian cricket fans. However, the funniest moment of the innings came when Shreyas Iyer, who also batted well for 53 runs off 32 balls, raised his bat at 49* thinking he has reached his half-century.

Shreyas Iyer came out to bat after India lost two quick wickets of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli. It was a tricky situation as Rohit Sharma was going strong at one end but the Indian captain was dismissed for a golden duck. Iyer took his time initially but once he got going, the young batter toyed around with Windies bowlers.

In the 48th over of the innings, Shreyas Iyer took a single off Keemo Paul by pushing the ball through the covers and took a single. Iyer raised his bat to acknowledge the crowd but Virat Kohli came out signaling from the dressing room that he still needs one more run to complete his fifty.

This made Indian players in the dressing room laugh and a very funny moment was created. To compensate for it, Iyer didn’t even raise his bat when he actually reached the fifty-run landmark. Shreyas Iyer eventually got out for 53.  The highlight of Shreyas Iyer’s innings was the 47th over of the innings which was bowled by Roston Chase. Iyer smashed the off-spinner for four sixes and a four collecting a total of 31 runs.
